Dr. Moustafa El-Abdallah Alkafry, Dean of the Faculty of Economics, University of Damascus, examines and examines the challenges facing the Arab world and highlights the weaknesses and factors of power in it and these old challenges – The new global economic crisis and its repercussions on the economies of Arab countries and if some of them to claim that the impact of the crisis in some Arab countries was not important because of the isolation of these countries, and non-interference in the mechanisms of international economic regulation, it does not mean The crisis that shook the capitalist system as a whole will not reach its end before its negative seeds are scattered across the globe.

This book comes to provide the researcher with a scientific material based on it to reflect on economic issues pressing on the political systems in the third world. If we know that 80% of the world’s wealth is owned by only 20% of the population living in the major industrialized countries, countries with emerging economies cannot put their heads in the sand, on the basis that we do not care.

The importance of the book, which addresses one of the negative manifestations of globalization (the economic crisis) and its impact on the Arab countries, stems. He refutes Fukuyama’s argument about the ultimate triumph of liberalism to ask: Has the end of neo-liberalism begun? Most importantly, Alkafry acknowledges that the end of the financial crisis that shook the United States and the world did not end the era of economic challenges in the Arab countries.

The challenges facing the Arab world must be tackled in a scientific and thoughtful manner. These challenges are presented in chapter 10 – the current economic challenges in the Arab countries: the challenge of high population growth, the problem of unemployment and the challenge of full employment, and

The challenge of human development, the challenge of lack of knowledge, the challenge of rapid economic growth required, and the challenge of low productivity in the Arab countries, challenge the economic dependency, challenge the environment, water and agricultural development in the Arab countries, as well as the challenges facing Arab banks in the globalization of banking services.

The book included a prelude to the future of the Arab world and eleven chapters:

Chapter I – the economic cycle: Interested in defining the economic cycle, stages of development and characteristics.

Chapter II – The economic crisis: about the nature of the economic crisis represented by the chaos of production and the contradiction between production and consumption.

Chapter III – Theories of Economic Crises and their Causes: Starting with the “Economic Crisis Theory” of Sismondi. Keynes’s theory of economic crises in insufficient demand, Marxist theory of crisis interpretation, and the immediate causes of crises of production spills. Chapter four, fifth and sixth – on the types of economic crises and changing manifestations. And the crisis of the global financial system. And the contemporary global crisis, which is a crisis of confidence.

In Chapter VII and VIII, the repercussions of the European financial crisis and the role of oil were discussed. Then the end of neo-liberalism and the end of the one-pole control.

Chapter 9 – 10 The impact of the global crisis on the economies of Arab countries and how to face the expected effects of the global financial crisis.

Chapter 11 – Arab Economic Integration in the Current Economic Changes: It included the definition of the goals of economic integration and the objectives of the Arab joint economic strategy and the difficulties of achieving Arab economic integration.

There is no doubt that this book is a source of wealth for the Arab library in need of bold scientific studies. All these economic contributions are combined by one obsession: how to increase the state of economic stimulus in the Arab countries.

As I share this concern, I reiterate my pride in his friendship and even his brothers. And I am the largest without rush to question the activation of relations of scientific cooperation between the Faculty of Economics at the University of Damascus and the Faculty of Economic Sciences and Business Administration at the Lebanese University.
